Supporting Successful Futures

The Careers Hub is a network of more than 200 London schools and 400 professional volunteers.

Our purpose is to connect business with education to provide London students with valuable industry insight, knowledge, and experience.

There are three ways that professionals can offer support to our network of schools:

1. Become an Enterprise Adviser:

Enterprise Advisers are professionals who donate between one and five hours per month. They:

  • Partner with one school for at least one academic year
  • Support the school’s careers educators with strategic careers plans
  • Offer students industry- or role-specific insight

Becoming an Enterprise Adviser supports your professional development and can positively impact young people’s futures.

Businesses with staff volunteering in this way report more diverse talent pipelines and increased social value outcomes.

All Enterprise Advisers receive full support from the Careers Hub team.

2. Give an hour

Giving an hour is a great way of volunteering your time without the sustained commitment of the Enterprise Adviser opportunity. Your donated hour could include:

  • Giving a careers talk
  • Attending a careers fair
  • Supporting a mock interview

Opportunities to Give an Hour are shared in a fortnightly newsletter. If you or your colleagues would like to receive this newsletter, please sign up below.

3. Provide a Bespoke Experience:

We can support your organisation to enhance its social value by developing a careers experience for young people that meets your required outcomes.

This might include work insight days, tailored workshops, or work experience programmes.

Our Employer Engagement Team will work closely with you to design and deliver a bespoke experience. You will also be sent evaluation data after the event to use how you wish.

Facilitating in Local Partnerships

Blackbook Winery in Battersea hosted 15 students from St Cecilia’s School in Wandsworth to provide insight into working within Hospitality.

Students gained valuable experience of one of London’s key growth sectors, exploring roles as well as pathways into the industry. They had the opportunity to speak directly to four employees – all working in different roles – to ask them questions and hear about their experiences.

‘My grandparents in Romania also make wine and they work extremely hard, I believe seeing this today makes people think more about the process, the history and the journey of wine from start to finish. I think what you are doing here is amazing!’

‘Really knowledgeable presenters who clearly knew their stuff and gave a great insight into the industry. They were also very passionate which came through.’
